A black hole is a region of space from which nothing, not even light, can escape. It is the result of the deformation of spacetime caused by a very compact mass.
Importance in Futurama
The Futurama characters have encountered black holes several times, including being on the Titanic and just barely escaping when it was sucked into one (1ACV10), and creating a black hole when imploding stars to get rid of time skips (3ACV14). Cubert and Dwight once created a small black hole at Wozniak Nerd Academy (3ACV12) and Leo Wong tried creating one as the end of his miniature golf course (ITWGY).
